A properly refurbished system is fully disassembled, inspected, and rebuilt to original manufacturer specification, with worn components replaced and full acceptance testing performed before delivery. It should carry a real warranty, not just a "sold as-is" disclaimer. Ask any vendor exactly what their refurbishment process covers before you buy.

Where refurbished makes the most sense

Refurbished equipment is an especially strong fit for facilities opening a new imaging service line for the first time, backup or overflow capacity in a multi-room department, and budget-constrained practices in growing markets where new equipment simply isn't in reach yet.

Where it's worth paying for new

If your case mix depends on the newest acquisition techniques or AI-driven protocols, or if service life and depreciation schedules matter for your capital planning, a new system may still be the better long-term choice.
